Sunsets on Boracay: home to kitesurfing jobs and the Best Internship in Asia

When I saw that Turner was going to my country, the Philippines, I immediately messaged and asked him what he was doing there and if he wanted me to hook him up.

When he told me he was going to spend time in Boracay to volunteer and help hit by typhoon Haiyan, I was more than happy to connect him to my friends based in the island.

This guest post about the Philippine’s best beaches and islands is my way to help promote my country (it’s a tropical paradise and the people are really nice!) and help raise more funds for Turner’s #savesanta project.

Without further ado, presenting four of the best beaches and islands in the Philippines in no particular order:

#1 Bohol

Bohol is a fantastic island. It has almost everything. I used to live here for a month in Panglao island and there are so many things to see and do in the island. It has gorgeous beaches, awesome waterfalls, breathtaking landscapes, delicious food and lots of adventurous things like kayaking, ziplining and hiking tropical hills and forrests.

The province of Bohol boasts of its world-famous Chocolate Hills and tarsier. Plus you can even watch dolphins or dive at one of the best diving spots in the country, Balicasag Island. You could easily spend a month exploring the whole island of Bohol.

#2 Palawan

Palawan has been dubbed the last frontier of the Philippines and for good reason. The province has loads of surreal views, powder-fine beaches and evian-clear waters. You can choose to start your adventures in Coron, Puerto Princesa or El Nido which is dubbed as the gateway to wild adventure.

Palawan also has the Puerto Princesa Underground River, one of the new 7 wonders of the world. It is still not that touristy so go before everyone else does.

#3 Boracay

Forget what everyone else is saying, Boracay is a truly beautiful island with a world-class beach. Even Turner seems to like it so far. I used to avoid Boracay as well but I eventually gave in and loved it. Which is why I ended up living in the island for a few months earlier this year so I definitely recommend it.

Panglao Island, BoholBesides its beautiful white beach, the island is now attracting party-crazy people and is slowly turning into the Ibiza of the Philippines, with parties year-round like the massive fun parties organized by Boracay PubCrawl.

But if you wanna avoid the crowd, don’t fret. Just head over to the other side of the island at Bulabog Beach where all the hot surfers hangout and you should be all set. Or better yet, check out Diniwid Beach just at the end of Station 1 and chill at Spider House.

And if you’re the adventurous type, the island offers a variety of activities from diving to zorbing that will keep you busy. You can even join people playing volleyball, frisbee or football along White Beach. Don’t be shy.

For foodies, the island also has numerous restaurants serving both local and international cuisine. I immensely enjoyed eating buffet dinners at Astoria and eating crepes at Ti Braz.

As I’ve said, don’t listen to the haters and just go experience Boracay yourself.

#4 Camiguin

The best island for me is Camiguin though. It has everything: white-sand beaches, hot springs, volcanoes, waterfalls, cold springs, great food, unique dive spots and a super low-key vibe. The island is just magical. My best recommendation? Rent a motorbike and spend your days going around and exploring all the corners of the island.

Come visit the Philippines

This is just a few of the best spots to see in the country. There are more. By visiting you also help the local economy. If you’re not visiting anytime soon but you want to help, you can donate and help raise funds to give Filipino kids a happy Christmas this year.
